2.1 Organisation

Understand that the movement of substances into and out of cells can be by diffusion, osmosis and active transport
  • An organism is made of organelles, cells, tissues, organs & systems
  • Tissues are a group of the same kind of cell which means they have the same function
  • The organ is different tissues put togetherThe organ leaf has 3 different types of functions, it being: photosynthesis, gas exchange and transpiration
  • A system is organs, tissues and cells working together

2.3 Cell Function

1) Cell Membrane: Controls what enters and leaves the cell.

2) Nucleus: Controls the function of the cell.

3) Cytoplasm Chemical reactions which occur in cell.

4) Vacuole: Store molocules such as amino acids & sugars (storage area)

5) Chloroplasts: It is where photosynthesis occurs.

6) Cell Membrane: Provide cell with suppost and protection.

2.2 Cell Structure

  • Both plant and animal cells have a cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm and cell membrane
  • Plant cells have 3 extra cells which are ; Vacuole, Chloroplast and Cell Wall.
  • All living things are composed of cells
  • The nuclues is the "Brain" of a cell that controls functions
